Following the move of Dorchester, Aspen and Gold Bond production onshore Nigeria, as well as the build-up of the local C&TM and G&A organisation, Habanera Ltd transactions are substantially increasing in numbers and magnitude (see below KPI's) also resulting in a much higher Tax Profile and exposure of the entity. This position therefore aims at maintaining and strengthening the General Ledger activity of the Entity as well as providing assistance to the regional head in the areas of Financial Reporting, Tax compliance, Policies and Procedures, and Finance related project such as Financial System enhancement.


MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

1."General Ledger

Perform, in Navision, the accounting entries related to the General Ledger activity, i.e. Fixed Assets, Taxes, Inventory movements and allocation to COGS, etc (excluding Payroll related)."

2. "Month End closings

Prepare Month End reconciliations to be approved by the Regional Head: Banks, Interco, Prepayments / Accruals, Inventory accounts (Finish Goods, Materials and Spare Parts), Accounts Receivable."

3. "Reporting

Prepare month-end Volume Reporting Template for submission to Manchester / Geneva
Prepare Interco Balances confirmation and load in BW,
Prepare month-end Trial Balances (GNL Full and HL partial) for review by Regional Head
Prepare A/R Aging report for submission to JTI Credit Control Dpt
Prepare Quarterly Entity Financial / Tax Pack (GNL Full - HL partial) for review by Regional Head
Prepare Conversion Cost make-up & variance versus VMC for reporting to GSC Finance"

4. "Tax

Prepare / Review VAT and WHT returns for GNL and HL prior to approval by Regional Head
Assist the A/P Accountant with any VAT / WHT issues.
Keep abreast of Tax changes in order to flag potential impact on Habanera's activity."

5. "Audits

Assist the Regional Head during Statutory and/or Tax audit (FIRS, LIRS) with the preparation of Documentation, make-up's, reconciliations or any other information as may be required."

6. "Policies & Procedures

Ensure adherence to JTI P&P. Assist the Regional Head in identifying control weaknesses, designing and implementing control procedures."

7. "Other

Assist the Regional Head in any other Finance related task or Project as may be required, e.g. further enhancement of Habanera's Financial System (Navision, etc). 

Qualifications :


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:

• University degree or equivalent

• Must possess ACCA and ICAN


Work Experience:

• At least 7-10 years in a key accounting position

• Experience in a trading environment (Manufacturing is a plus)


Languages & Computer Skills:

• Advanced computer skills (MS Office, etc )

• Good oral and written English


FUNCTIONAL SKILLS

• International accounting standards (IFRS).

• Familiar with internal controls and other finance procedures

• Knowledge of Accounting Software (SAP would be an asset).

JOB PURPOSE:

The purpose of this position is to provide economic research and analytical support to the Risk Management Group. Economic Analysis:

Data Bases and Data Writing:

• Develop economic dada bases, analytical tools and models for capturing, analyzing and displaying important global economic and financial market trends

• Analyzes economic data releases and policy announcements with the objective of assessing how forecast are tracking and, importantly, identifying turning points in key economic trends.

• Develop and maintain economic models and indicators and gather data, for forecasting and data watching on African economies.


Inputs into Risk Management Process:
• Prepare written report for publication on global economic issues and trends. Prepare, maintain and update power-point and other presentations for internal and external use, including helping to prepare inputs to the Board Risk Management Committee and the Portfolio Analytics Team.

• Participate in on-site risk management reviews and examination related to banks’ use of quantitative techniques in such activities such as credit risk, operational risk and capital allocation.

• Frequent communication and presentation of forecast, data watching analysis, special projects results and general macroeconomic views to risk management and finance teams, and occasionally to broader internal and external forums.


Staff Development:

• Uses a high level of professional competence in economic analysis by participating in the development and teaching of seminars or courses for Risk Managers. Assist Senior Department and Bank Management on the formulation of Risk Management Policy

• Keep informed of academic, central bank and think-tank economic research and thinking.


JOB CONTEXT:

The Senior Economist will serve as a recognized authority and leader in advanced economic analysis, providing expert commentary at all levels and on all aspects of business, including macroeconomic, sectoral and macroeconomic issues. Position/Responsibilities
The Postdoctoral Fellow will:
  • Lead research activities for enset transformation for bacterial wilt resistance
  • Establish embryogenic cell suspension cultures
  • Develop rapid and robust transformation system for enset
  • Generate and evaluate transgenic enset for resistance to bacterial wilt disease
  • Liaise with biosafety authorities for approvals for conducting transgenic research on enset
  • Supervise staff and students on the project
  • Handle day-to-day management of the project
  • Compile progress reports
  • Publish research findings and communicate outcomes
  • Contribute to capacity strengthening of national partners
  • Organize annual meetings and training workshops
  • Participate actively in monthly meetings, annual review and planning meetings, resource mobilization, and contribute to strategic research planning.
Educational Qualifications
Ph.D. in Biotechnology/Molecular Biology/Biochemistry/ Plant Science with specialization in Plant Transformation and Molecular Biology.

RRA Network proposes a series of specific measures on seeds, soils, water, millets, fisheries, credit, markets, and institutions.
About the Job: 
RRA Network is seeking a Chief Executive Officer. S/he will provide direction and ensure accountability of projects undertaken by various network partners.
Tasks and Responsibilities: 
  • Working with the strategic lead group (SLG) of the Network, to develop and implement a long-term agenda for the RRAN;
  • Helping recruit staff;
  • Liaison with organizations having responsibilities to undertake the following functions:
    • Help the organization to develop and operationalize an MIS for the Network to track commitments made by all partners;
    • Help in the development of an internal and external communication strategy for the network and oversee its translation into specific products, and campaigns;
    • Work with the RRA networks's research node to develop and advance a research agenda and oversee the conversion of research outputs to communication materials for use in the network's policy advocacy;
    • Identify ongoing HR needs of the network, undertake recruitment, and place executives across the network besides capacity building framework across the various pilots being commissioned by the Network;
    • Liaison with existing and prospective donors (including government, and domestic and international donors) to generate greater support for the network.
  • Develop and manage network activities, including meetings of the governing board, the SLG, and the extended network;
  • Manage administration, information, and reporting of network activities such that all stakeholders receive accurate and timely information;
  • Builds and maintains good relations with network partners, donors, and other stakeholders in close coordination with SLG.
Qualifications: 
  • Masters degree in Social Sciences or related field;
  • Minimum 12 years of total professional experience;
  • Proven ability in straddling multiple day-to-day roles that include timely project delivery, stakeholder relationship management, quality assurance, team building, mentorship, fundraising, brand visibility, and thought leadership;
  • Demonstrated skills in alliance building and relationship management across diverse partners and stakeholders;
  • Ability to represent the organization across media, government, and national and international forums;
  • Familiarity with policy advocacy in India would be a plus;
  • Familiarity with a development sector would be a plus.
