Its mission is to alleviate poverty through entrepreneurship by offering loans, savings programs, credit establishment, and financial services to low-income families and individuals in the U.S. Grameen America is built upon the success and experienced staff of the Grameen Bank of Bangladesh, which was created by Dr. Muhammad Yunus.
About the Job:
Grameen America is seeking a VISTA. S/he will help build organizational capacity at each NYC branch location. S/he will be instrumental in four key areas: expansion, employee training, database modernization, and online banking.
Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Organizational expansion:
  • Perform market research for new branch locations;
  • Design and implement field staff and borrower recruitment plan;
  • Oversee training institute and branch set-up;
  • Modify training institute curriculum.
• Data management:
  • Develop and maintain data and office management systems to maintain client confidentiality;
  • Develop transition plan for branches to use electronic client management system;
  • Train staff to use electronic client management system.

Qualifications:

• Must have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent;
• Excellent verbal and written communication;
• Strong computer skills,must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Internet, and E-mail and have some familiarity with database systems;
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills;
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects independently and complete an assignment timely and accurately;
• Must be fluent in Spanish;
• Willing and able to live on AmeriCorps VISTA stipend.
