Executive Director of GOAL UK




Description
The GOAL UK office is an important element of GOAL's efforts to raise funds and build on relationships with the UK government.  GOAL UK has been registered as GOAL International, a non-profit organization and is currently expanding this office with the aim of increasing money raised across public and corporate donations as well as trusts and foundations.

GOAL UK currently runs a number of events each year that aim to generate funds for the organization and develop relationships with current and potential donors. GOAL UK also provides support to GOAL Ireland in targeting institutional donors, Corporates, Trusts and Foundations.

While GOAL has performed strongly in the area of institutional funding in the past and has had some success with corporate partnerships, GOAL needs to develop its proposition to the corporate audience and needs to develop its focus on Trusts and Foundations. GOAL UK also needs to develop its fundraising platforms beyond the current operation. In particular GOAL needs to develop its community fundraising activities, regular giving, direct marketing and corporate partnership models in line with developments with GOAL Ireland and GOAL UK.

It will be the role of the Executive Director to develop a strategic plan and a structured multi-platform fundraising model, in coordination with GOAL Ireland and to manage the development of GOAL UK’s fundraising department.

The Executive Director will be responsible for ensuring that GOAL UK supports the GOAL Ireland fundraising and business development team to ensure that Institutional donors and Trusts & Foundations are targeted in a coordinated way and to ensure that relationships are managed in a professional way.

Main responsibilities include:
•To ensure that GOAL UK develops and executes a comprehensive fundraising plan to generate new funding commitments from corporate, individual and foundation donors in the UK;
•To be the head of GOAL UK. The executive director will ensure that the activities of the GOAL UK office is managed professionally and will ensure that targets are set and that progress is monitored and to ensure that all activities are coordinated with GOAL Ireland;
•Strengthen relationships and create opportunities for longer-term funding streams with new and existing donors;
•Represent GOAL in the UK, engaging with all current & potential stakeholders and with potential donors by demonstrating the highest professional standards;
•Provide leadership and direction in creating relationships with donors that have the capacity to evolve into national partnerships;
•Set up quarterly meetings and work closely with the Board of Directors and any Advisory Board committees to expand and develop strategies, open new potential donor contacts and work on fundraising events;
•Ensure that the GOAL UK Gala events are run professionally;
•Work with the GOAL team to develop new fundraising events as necessary and develop web based strategies for each fundraising event and monitor progress;
•Ensure that GOAL develops post event strategies for on-going development and engagement of relationships with key supporters;
•Develop a media and marketing plan for GOAL UK in consultation with the social media representative in Dublin that should include direct mail, electronic giving, and social media aspects of all project undertaken;
•Work with head office on production, development and submission of concept papers, letters of inquiry (LOI’s), project proposals (both narrative and financial) to send to all applicable donors, trusts, and foundations.  Also, ensure all submissions are compliant and within the parameters set by all prospective donors.
•Produce bi-annual analysis and progress reports for the Board of Directors;
•Oversees the creation and maintenance of comprehensive and up-to-date community mailing lists and donor databases for GOAL UK. Ensure that all significant contacts with current or potential donors are documented to share with GOAL Ireland and GOAL UK.
•Ensure that public relations and fundraising material is designed to conform with GOAL’s standard guidelines and in coordination with GOAL Ireland and ensure that it is printing and distribution is a pre-planned manner.

Desired skills and experience:

• A minimum of 8 years working experience in development across all platforms including but not specific to; foundations, event management, direct mail, major gifts, corporate sponsorship, and high net-worth individuals.
• A proven track record in the development of fundraising strategies appropriate for a small to medium-sized organization.
• The ability to prioritize, multi-task and work well under pressure in a small but busy office.
• Demonstrate experience in representing an organization at senior level with partners, private sector corporations, foundations and all other potential donors.
• Proficient in oral and written communication with the ability to explain complex international development issues while making a compelling case that encourages people to take action and generate further support.
• Fundraising experience in the UK.
• Self-starter with a high degree of self-reliance.
• An ability to write well, producing clear and concise material.
• Flexibility and adaptability.
• Willingness to attend events and meetings outside of regular office hours.

Additional Skills:
• Excellent computer skills, proficient in MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint and outlook.
• Strong organizational and administrative skills.
• General bookkeeping ability.
