The U. S. Embassy in Yaoundé is seeking 8 individuals for the position ofWatchman in the Local Guard Force section. This position is located in Yaounde.
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
Under the direct supervision of a Guard Supervisor with daily shift assignments and directions from the on-duty Senior Guard, the incumbent performs guard services to safeguard and protect U.S. Government property and personnel. Duties include: guarding various U.S. Embassy Yaounde facilities in accordance with Local Guard Force 
Orders to include U.S. diplomats residences; preventing unauthorized entry of persons into U.S. Government facilities and residences by stopping pedestrians and vehicles; reporting intruders, fire, attempts or actual theft to direct supervisor or to the Regional Security Officer; maintaining logbook during his/her shift and reporting to supervisor on 
specific incidents concerning unusual circumstances or events.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Note: All applicants must address each selection criterion detailed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item.
1. Education: Completion of formal education is not required. 

2. Experience: Minimum of one year of experience in security related field with a United States Government entity, contractor, or affiliated personnel is required. 

3. Language: Level I (Rudimentary Knowledge) speaking/reading English and Level I (Rudimentary Knowledge) speaking French are required and will be tested. 

4. Job Knowledge: Applicant must have good knowledge of standard security practices and procedures. Job knowledge may be tested.
5. Skills and Abilities: Applicant must be able to give, receive, and follow instructions; must be reliable in attendance and performance; must be courteous, tactful, but firm at all time and be able to respond to a wide 
range of situations; must be alert and observant. Applicant must be physically fit to perform guard duties. Skills and abilities may be tested.
SELECTION PROCESS:
When fully qualified, U.S. Citizen Eligible Family Members (USEFMs) and U.S. Veterans are given preference. Therefore, it is essential that the candidate specifically address the required qualifications above in the application.
ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA
1. Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy. 
2. Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply. 
3. Current Ordinarily Resident employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent Employee Performance Report are not eligible to apply. 
4. Currently employed U.S. Citizen EFMs who hold a Family Member Appointment (FMA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment. 
5. Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment unless currently hired into a position 
with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule. 
6. The candidate must be able to obtain and hold a Locally Employed Staff security clearance.
