About the Job: 
Opportunity International is seeking a Senior Program Manager. S/he will provide management oversight to multi-year grants and ensure stewardship of deliverable and funds in keeping with milestones and accounting principles. S/he will also work with operation team to ensure the successful implementation of strategic program within his/her portfolio.
Tasks and Responsibilities: 
  • Manage major grants:
    • Setup appropriate instruments for effective management of grant funds to ensure adequate results and cost tracking;
    • Deploy grant funds with project implementing members using contractual frameworks (memorandum of understanding, terms of reference, letters of agreement, credit memos etc.), which enable achievement of timely deliverables and establish reporting relationships;
    • Provide project monitoring throughout the course of the grant period, and fulfill all close-out requirements and procedures for successful project closure;
    • Assist with project evaluation and knowledge management deliverables as required.
  • Produce reports for donors:
    • Meet all reporting requirements established with donors. Produce high quality and evidence based progress reports and expense reports per agreed schedules with donors;
    • Gather any information required for reports from implementing members, organizational departments, interviews, and possibly secondary sources.
  • Track budgets and expenditures:
    • Apply accounting principles and use Raiser's Edge/Financial Edge to produce financial reports, allocate, and analyze funds;
    • Work among internal teams to execute funding requests by implementing members, allocate and transfer funds appropriately per a predefined schedule, and track expenditures;
    • Monitor program budgets using tracking sheets, perform funding analysis, review accounting budget reports, report variances, and negotiate budget adjustments.
  • Program coordination and knowledge keeping:
    • Serve as Opportunity US's point person with program implementing members and Opportunity network partners, through regular calls and field visits;
    • Monitor progress on key deliverables through regular touch-points with program stakeholders;
    • Disseminate program knowledge to stakeholders including donors, program partners, board members, global and US staff, and the development community.
  • Assist with business planning and proposal development.
Qualifications: 
  • Bachelors degree, preferably an MBA or MSA, degree in Finance, Economics, or Development Studies;
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in project management;
  • At least 2-3 years of accounting experience;
  • Excellent written communication skills, including extensive experience in technical report writing;
  • Experience with database reporting and accounting software, preferably Blackbaud software (Raiser's Edge/Financial Edge);
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills;
  • Diplomacy, good judgment, and ability to work across different cultures;
  • Discernment to determine dissemination of confidential or sensitive field information to various groups;
  • Ability to work well under the pressure of deadlines;
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment;
  • Willing to travel 10-15% of the time (domestic and international);
  • Fluency in French, Spanish, or Portuguese, preferable.
