Volunteer Accountant Accounting for International Development (AfID) Ghana


About the Organization: 
Accounting for International Development (AfID) is a social enterprise that offers experienced finance professionals the opportunity to use their skills to make a difference as volunteers and to gain rewarding hands-on international development experience. Individually tailored assignments, ranging from 2 weeks to 12 months, form part of an ongoing strategy of AfID to build the financial management capacity and long-term sustainability of charities and nonprofit community organizations across the world.
About the Job: 
AfID is seeking a Volunteer Accountant. S/he will work with the partner organization and will help them in updating all accounting records. S/he will also help in preparing year-end accounts. The partner organization works towards women empowerment through income generation activity, social microfinance, and sexual and reproductive health in rural Ghana.
Tasks and Responsibilities: 
  • Ensure that the bank and other balance sheet accounts have been reconciled;
  • Asses whether the recurring and other journals have been regularly entered;
  • Asses whether stock taking has been completed accurately;
  • Assist with future financial planning;
  • Assist with preparation of a finance manual.
