Accountant II (Expat position in Cameroon)



Job description

·     
Assists in the day to day maintenance of general ledger accounts and financial statements including, accounts receivable and payable reconciliation, capital expenditure and expense reporting, invoice payments, well reconciliation, budget maintenance, and royalty account maintenance.
  • Makes journal entries recording costs
  • Reconciles accounts within area of responsibility
  • Runs the closing process for the accounts. Verifies coding and adjusts where necessary. Forwards entries for posting by the finance manager
  • Troubleshoots problems with oracle processes and produces reporting
  • Ensures proper calculation and payment of withholding and payroll taxes
  • Compiles the annual EITI and other external reporting
  • Prepares budgets for partners and government in accordance with the psc and joa. presents work at tcm and ocm meetings.
  • Mentors local staff.
  • Coordinates audits by partners, internal auditing, tax officials, etc.


Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (preferred), OR Finance, Economics, or Mathematics with a minor in Accounting (or a minimum of 15 credit hours in Accounting).
  • Typically requires two or more years of accounting experience within a publicly held company or a large privately held organization.
