About the Job: 
NGOabroad is offering internships which provide important experience to later get a job in microfinance or international development. Apart from the injection of microfinance loan the work sites in Africa need help with launching & running small business and need help with marketing to generate income & improve livelihoods.
Tasks and Responsibilities: 
  • Project management:
    • Help initiate this new direction & keep it running smoothly.
  • Business savvy:
    • Help identify products or services that are well suited to villagers;
    • Help identify markets, whether local or international.
  • Training of trainers - mentor villagers in microloan groups regarding:
    • How to maintain & manage their projects over time;
    • What snags to anticipate & how to overcome & advance
    • How to gauge the needs of their markets & shift strategies or revise their products or services;
    • How to access or grow funds for further growth;
    • How to manage their collective needs & organizational changes;
    • Basic accounting - how to keep track of money;
    • Size up the community’s resources, talents and needs and develop ways that the people can generate income.
Qualifications: 
  • Practical (vs theoretical) experience with microfinance and business development;
  • Ability to mentor & transfer skills is very important;
  • Project management & leadership skills;
  • Entrepreneurial skills.
