Finance Office- Internship CALA Social Capital United Kingdom


About the Organization: 
CALA Social Capital is a UK-based social enterprise. It aims to promote the development of microfinance in the developing world. CALA works with local partners to set up autonomous MFIs which provide services to people of all races, faiths, and backgrounds, with a particular focus on reaching those currently outside of the formal financial system.
About the Job: 
CALA is seeking a Finance Officer. S/he will be responsible for development of a revised financial model for the national microfinance company (NMC), Tanzania and CALA. S/he will also be involved in fundraising. This is a short term part-time voluntary role requiring engagement for three to six months.
Tasks and Responsibilities: 
  • Create a new financial model for the NMC and CALA;
  • Assist in negotiations with potential financial partners.
Qualifications: 
  • Education to university level in Finance or a related subject;
  • Experience of working within a MFI, preferably including the establishment of a greenfield MFI;
  • Experience of Sub-Saharan Africa is an advantage;
  • Strong interpersonal, team, organizational, and communication skills;
  • Fluency in English;
  • Understanding of and commitment to the ethos and mission of the NMC;
  • UK base is an advantage but not essential.
