About the Job:
Horus Development Finance is seeking a Rural Lending Expert. S/he will lead the agricultural finance component of a project at an MFI in Cameroon. This is a two year assignment.
Horus Development Finance is seeking a Rural Lending Expert. S/he will lead the agricultural finance component of a project at an MFI in Cameroon. This is a two year assignment.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Implementing agricultural value-chain finance and ensuring good collaboration between all stakeholders in the value chain;
- Developing partnerships with stakeholders in the value chain (farmer-based organizations, buyers and exporters, input and equipment suppliers);
- Carrying out market studies in order to identify new target segments among new value chains and in new regions;
- Ensuring proper roll out of the individual and group loans;
- Drawing up an appropriate commercial strategy and innovating, when needed, in terms of products;
- Creating efficient and appropriate risk mitigation procedures and tools;
- Supporting the MFI in setting up a suitable branch organization in order to ensure smooth and efficient operations;
- Training field officers and proving technical support and coaching to staff in the field and at the head office;
- Monitoring the rural loan portfolio and reporting accordingly to all the stakeholders involved in the project;
- Contributing to the regular follow up and evaluation of the project phases;
- Ensuring that the rural lending activity uses all available technologies and tools at the MFI in order to maximize sustainability.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Rural Economics, Banking, and Finance or a related field;
- At least 5 years’ experience in regulated financial institutions and/or in agricultural value chains;
- Experience in a developing country, experience in Africa would be an asset;
- Successful experience in developing new products and processes;
- Proven expertise in project management;
- Ability to work well in a team and work under pressure with tight deadlines;
- Training and communication skills;
- Ability to analyze risks and formalize procedures;
- Fluency in French and English.
