About the Job:
HFHI is seeking a Microfinance Partnerships Specialist - Housing Microfinance. S/he will be responsible for facilitating vibrant market approaches and collaboration with existing local market actors, microcredit organizations, and institutions to develop and expand market-based services, products, and financing.
HFHI is seeking a Microfinance Partnerships Specialist - Housing Microfinance. S/he will be responsible for facilitating vibrant market approaches and collaboration with existing local market actors, microcredit organizations, and institutions to develop and expand market-based services, products, and financing.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing, piloting, and implementing technical support strategies and scalable housing microfinance models for low income people and contribute to national and area strategy development;
- Participate in and contribute to the operations of Habitat’s global centre for innovations in shelter and finance (CISF) and other global task teams. Generate learnings and promote scaling of effective models, sharing and knowledge transfer in the area and globally;
- Mapping of investors’ landscape and MFI sector and its opportunities in Ukraine, aimed at designing and implementing new housing microfinance projects and partnerships;
- Undertake assessments of potential partner financial service providers, microcredit organizations, institutions or other local market actors;
- Develop technical assistance and/or financing proposals for partner institutions and arrange technical assistance agreements with partner institutions;
- Collaborate interdepartmentally in the development of competitive proposals for consultancy services contracts with regard to market development, housing microfinance, and expanding access to client-responsive services, products, and financing in the market that address shelter needs of low-income people;
- Advise on the development of finance options (loan guarantees, risk mitigation grants, refinancing credit, grants for pilot projects, remittance or savings based models);
- Network with organizations and associations working in the housing microfinance sector, to access latest knowledge, industry trends, news, publications and developments, and to promote Habitat’s housing microfinance programs;
- Contribute to policy documents, reports, and recommendations on residential energy efficiency to national or regional level stakeholders as required (REELIH program).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Microfinance, Commerce, Business Administration, or similar field;
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience managing and/or advising in financing, housing microfinance, development finance, and related research;
- Good business management, business modelling, and negotiation skills;
- Excellent organizational planning and project management skills;
- Process facilitation and organizational development skills. Consultancy/advisory skills;
- Experience in designing and implementing development projects in the field;
- Strong willingness to work in the field;
- Excellent interpersonal, cross-cultural, communication skills coupled with a high level of customer service;
- Strong computer skills – MS Office;
- Knowledge and understanding of the ECA region;
- Conversance with the microfinance industry in the ECA region;
- Knowledge of English;
- Working knowledge of Russian.
