The blog is the cornerstone of CGAP’s social media strategy. It publishes fresh content four to five times a week, on financial inclusion issues. The blog maintains a high standard of quality writing, featuring a host of experts both from within CGAP as well as external authors. It is considered a global forum for discussing key issues in financial inclusion.

About the Job:
CGAP is looking for a new Blog Editor - Short Term Consultancy to Support CGAP’s Blog. S/he will perform day to day tasks required to sustain blog from planning to publishing and marketing CGAP blogs/series. This assignment is for 150 business days between 01 Nov 2013 and 30 Jun 2014, unless the appointment is extended or a new appointment is made.
CGAP is looking for a new Blog Editor - Short Term Consultancy to Support CGAP’s Blog. S/he will perform day to day tasks required to sustain blog from planning to publishing and marketing CGAP blogs/series. This assignment is for 150 business days between 01 Nov 2013 and 30 Jun 2014, unless the appointment is extended or a new appointment is made.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Copyedit and publish high quality content four to five times a week;
- Work with authors to finalize each post, make the writing crisper, and the technical nature of many blogs more digestible for a broader audience;
- Work to plan and collate blog series on a variety of CGAP topics, flesh out the themes of the series in collaboration with a technical expert at CGAP, contact and follow-up with authors to get the posts delivered on deadline;
- Follow up on the comments to blog posts and collaborate with authors on their responses;
- Work with the communications team to plan and execute a marketing strategy for each blog series;
- Help sharpen CGAP writing and publish/reach out to other media outlets;
- Support marketing activities for the blog as needed;
- Support other communication team activities as needed.
Qualifications:
- Graduate degree in Communications, Social Sciences or Development Studies;
- At least 3 years of work experience in the development sector, preferably in communications related work;
- Demonstrated experience in sub editing for a web product which produces high quality and volume of content;
- Sharp editorial nose for hot topics, excellent content planning skills and ability to transform technical jargon into lively, polished and clearly written material;
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across teams;
- Knowledge of development issues, and ability to translate technical information, and research data into digestible, sharp writing;
- Knowledge of financial inclusion, financial sector, global economy, is highly preferred;
- Knowledge of Drupal or similar content management system.
