Senior Bank Training Consultants

About the Job: 
DAI is seeking two Senior Bank Training Consultants. They will be based in Kenya and in Uganda. They will work as consultant-trainers, and diagnose needs in the financial intermediaries and drafts TORs to mobilise short-term experts and quality control their deliverables. They will primarily be involved with MFI, and microfinance/small business departments of commercial banks.
Tasks and Responsibilities: 
  • Provide training and mentoring support for the EIB’s global loan allocation processing;
  • Design, coordinate, and implement technical assistance and consultant actions for MFIs, microfinance departments of commercial banks, and monitor M/SME;
  • Support actions and outreach events;
  • In- charge of preparing training sessions within the geographic zones/financial intermediaries under his/her remit.
Qualifications: 
  • University degree, preferably in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Banking, or related field or equivalent professional experience;
  • Minimum 5 years experience in operational credit management from a MFI/ small business;
  • Good analytical skills in economic and M/MSE project finance planning and implementation (market and financial analysis risk analysis techniques, and ability to implement computer based models to analyse balance sheets, calculate key financial ratios, and make proactive recommendations in drafting loan documentation and security arrangements);
  • Practical experience and proven track record in organising and delivering professional bank training programs and development of curricula and training materials;
  • Good analytical skills in economic and MSE project finance planning and implementation, fully conversant with market and financial analysis risk analysis techniques, and ability to implement computer based models to analyse balance sheets and calculate key financial ratios for lending analysis.

About the Job: 
First Microfinance Foundation is seeking a Chief Accountant. S/he will oversee accounting activities of the organization.
Tasks and Responsibilities: 
  • Supervise the preparation, recording control, monitoring, maintenance, and reconciliation of financial transactions and provide overall management of the accounts of the company;
  • Ensure timely preparation and fair presentation of accounting records, financial statements, and tax/statutory withholding returns in accordance with internal procedures and policies, IFRS accounting standards and all applicable regulatory requirements;
  • Make reports available to management, the board or other stakeholders as required;
  • Evaluate and improve work processes to improve efficiency, quality, and reliability;
  • Supervise, train, and manage performance of staff within the department.
Qualifications: 
  • Degree in Accounting, CPA/ or Chartered Accountancy equivalent required (Master’s Degree preferred);
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in financial management or accounting in a company (preferably a financial institution) and at least 2 years’ experience supervising accounting functions;
  • Experience in microfinance is beneficial;
  • Experienced with at least one type of accounting software;
  • Experience in management of accounts in a financial institution is highly beneficial;
  • Sound knowledge of microfinance and principles and banking practices;
  • Proficient in MS-Office Suite (especially Excel);
  • Ability to adjust the accounting entries;
  • Fluency in English Reporting skill is a must.

Business Development Manager-Africa

BIMA is an end-to-end mobile insurance solution provider, established in 2010. It manages all activities surrounding the launch of a mobile insurance product in emerging markets including insurance administration, technical solution, customer registration, product development and marketing, market research. Bima's objective is to improve mobile operator KPIs (ARPU, churn, direct revenue) and to increase the penetration of insurance in the emerging world by using specially designed insurance products to drive both initiatives.
About the Job: 
BIMA is seeking a Business Development Manager-Africa. S/he will expand the Milvik business in the African continent.
Tasks and Responsibilities: 
  • New lead generation and relationship building with operators and insurance companies in Africa;
  • Set up and run meetings with operator leads, insurance companies, regulators, and any other partners, where relevant;
  • Analyse market characteristics for BIMA entry independent of integrated mobile operator partnership;
  • Prepare powerpoint presentations for sales pitch and any follow-up documentation or analysis required by the prospective partners or regulators;
  • Prepare and negotiate legal contracts (based on pre-existing templates and support from BIMA group’s council and local country council);
  • Extensive excel modelling to develop business case and pricing, which are unique for each market;
  • Product development to suit local market (including setting of price points, cover levels, premium rates, Bima fees, insurance type, payment model, branding, etc);
  • When sale is closed, manage the implementation of the operation, including, recruitment of local team to run operations;
  • Ability to multi-task across several initiatives;
  • Effectively and efficiently plan and prioritize all resources working across the operation based on company goals;
  • Actively monitor risks to foresee potential issues and proactively identify solutions to address them in advance;
  • Consistently identify new opportunities and needs that partners or clients may not recognize and ensure approaches and solutions are linked to objectives and future needs;
  • Consistently manage partner or client relationship and expectations, ensure delivery of the highest quality service, and solicit and act on partner or client feedback;
  • Business Development Manager will also be expected to contribute significantly to building Bima’s profile online through social media and press (a key part of the business development process).
Qualifications: 
  • Minimum 3-5 years work experience in consulting;
  • Experience within Africa and existing relationships with mobile operators a plus but not a must;
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate, support, and understand different stakeholders and cultures, ideally in emerging markets;
  • Strong attention to detail, with focus on stakeholder management, product management, product development, and performance of distribution channels.
